Honda Confirms New Pilot And CR-V Debut 2020, Accord Hybrid in 2021
While giving the media the first look at the Honda Pro-L and CR-V Debut 2020, which will be more powerful and more fuel efficient than their predecessors, the Honda brand has confirmed that they are planning to release a new model for this year only, Accord Hybrid. The compact car line-up on two new models is similar with the hybrid version, except that it will now come in six variants namely the A-segment, C-segment, G-segment, PHG, U-segment and V-segment.
The launch of the fourth model is not new. Honda had announced its upcoming electrified lineup last year, especially when it came to its Accord Hybrid which will receive major updates in terms of powertrain and system, including the plug-in model as well as pure electrified versions of all the sub-segments. This time, however, the automaker has made an important announcement about its flagship series, CR-V which will also receive a significant update, although this time around it will be a mix of body styles and various engines, although based on the current specification of previous ones. It should be noted that the upcoming CR-V will feature standard features like Android Auto and autonomous driving technology. Apart from these changes, other highlights include improved cabin layout, updated infotainment system and the addition of wireless charging pad. The company will start production of both the new compact cars in January 2021. As part of the press event held Wednesday afternoon, the team showed off the interior of the upcoming vehicle, revealing several of the key components such as the instrument cluster, while giving detailed information regarding some of the technical aspects of the platform, including the drivetrain and engine options. Aside from the main component sheet, numerous cameras were used in order to show the exterior design of the new CR-V, which will be developed by Renault France and assembled by Renault Kiger, who will build the vehicles at their plant located in Châtelet and have built most of its products for Nissan since 1998. Both models will employ a single rear axle configuration, while the CR-V will take advantage of the advanced battery electric architecture (BEA) and the range will be equivalent to 12.9 kilometers on a full charge. Additionally, both models will bring unique styling elements and the CR-V will get a sportier looking front fascia as compared to the conventional sedan’s. Finally, both models will benefit from BLEA engines, meaning no need for the use of internal combustion engine. Furthermore, the hybrid variant of both vehicles will come equipped with a larger capacity high-voltage battery pack than what was found in the earlier generations of this SUV.
